The Director General of Energy and Geology visited the Renewable Energies Chair at the University of Évora.
The Director General of Energy and Geology (DGEG), Jerónimo Cunha, visited the Renewable Energies Chair at the University of Évora (CER-UÉ).
Accompanied by CER-UÉ responsible, Pedro Horta, as well as by DGEG and CER-UÉ researchers, the visit aimed at presenting the best of what is being done at CER-UÉ and outlining future strategies in the support to solar energy projects in Portugal.
During the visit, Jerónimo Cunha got to know, between other ongoing activities, the objectives and partnership of SOL2H2O, having the chance to visit the solar photocatalyst operated in the project in the treatment of emerging contaminants.
SOL2H2O is a project that seeks the development and implementation of a common scientific strategy, with a strong focus on an enhanced capacity building of researchers, going beyond purely scientific capacities and strengthening their research management and administration skills.
“The visit of our Director General of Energy and Geology was an opportunity to discuss, among other questions, the possibilities opened by solar driven water production and treatment technologies in the current framework of national policies and projects around water production and treatment, namely the desalination plants being envisaged not only for agricultural or residential water uses, but also for large scale hydrogen production”, said Pedro Horta.
